Spider-Man: Far From Home ***1/2 (Out of 4)

Consensus: “Far From Home” is essentially a direct sequel to “Avengers: Endgame”. You can feel it through this whole movie. It’s an odd kind of vibe as major heroes in the MCU have met their end and there are some massive shoes to fill. There are also a lot of villains trying to take advantage of this void. It feels like open season on earth. This all adds up to a very unique super hero flick. Spider-Man is struggling to find his true place in the world. Tom Holland proves he is up to the task of stepping up as well. Jake Gyllenhaal joins the cast as Mysterio, who turns out to be a very surprising character. Also the action sequences rock. Watching Peter and Mysterio battle the Elementals gave me some of the most thrilling showdowns I have seen this year. I also enjoyed the supporting characters and their entertaining relationships. This still retains the vibe of a high school comedy like “Homecoming”.

Avengers: Endgame **** (Out of 4)

Consensus: It has taken me a few weeks to settle on my thoughts on this movie and I still can’t full wrap my head around it. The words glorious, emotional, and mind blowing all come to mind. Is it the best Marvel Cinematic Universe flick? I’m still not sure yet but it is a contender. This film ends the Infinity Saga almost perfectly and yet some how leaves me wanting more.

Avengers: Infinity War ***1/2 (Out of 4)

Consensus: It took me a while to process this movie as it was quite an awesome experience. It was a little jarring at first because the characters are immediately thrust into this intergalactic adventure where the action never stops. All of the character development has been done in the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies leading up to this point. Thanos is basically the main character here and this is his journey. This is definitely one of the top tier flicks in the MCU canon.

Ant-Man *** (Out of 4)

Consensus: The Marvel train just keeps on rolling.  This time they introduce one of the more obscure characters and cast the loveable Paul Rudd and some how turn out yet another winner.  “Ant-Man” is a fun filled ride with some creative visuals and an entertaining heist story.  My only problem is that it gets bogged down in yet another origin story.
